Bubby, sweet, and creamy, this Orange Sherbet Punch is so delicious! There was a point in my history when there was a punch bowl at every house party. No matter the occasion, there was always some sort of frothy beverage to sip on, made with fruit juice, soda, and filled with scoops of sherbet.

I’m not exactly sure what happened, but I see sherbet punch much less often now – and I’m not happy about it! We should be enjoying more delicious fruity drinks like Orange Sherbet Punch, Lime Sherbet Punch, and Rainbow Sherbet Punch.

Why You’re Going to Love This Orange Sherbet Punch Recipe

  • Just 4 Ingredients – It doesn’t take much to make a delicious punch with orange sherbet. You’ll need oranges, juice, sherbet, and lemon-lime soda. That’s it!
  • Serving Options – I’ll share a recipe for a pitcher of orange sherbet that will serve 8 (perfect for parties), and I’ll also tell you how to make a single serving if you’re hanging out solo tonight. Either way, it takes just minutes to make this recipe.

Ingredients in Orange Sherbet Punch

  • Lemon Lime Soda – You can make orange sherbet punch with Sprite, 7-Up, or any brand of lemon-lime pop.
  • Orange Juice – I highly suggest that you use freshly squeezed orange juice. Try using different orange juices for different flavors– blood oranges will give the punch a slightly redder color and more subtle orange flavor while cara cara oranges will give a sweeter, more floral flavor.
  • Orange Sherbet – Pick up your favorite brand at the store, or learn how to make homemade orange sherbet from scratch for a real treat!
  • Orange Slices – These are the perfect finishing touch to your orange punch!

How To Make a Single Serving of Orange Sherbet Punch

Sometimes you just need to make a tall, fizzy glass of punch for one. Combine 2 ounces of orange juice and ½ cup lemon-lime soda in a tall glass. Then top with 1 scoop of orange sherbet and garnish with orange wedges. Grab a straw and enjoy!

Tips for Making This Orange Sherbet Punch Recipe

  • Use Chilled Ingredients – Keep your juice and soda in the fridge until just before mixing up the punch. This way, you won’t need to add any ice.
  • Try Other Soda Flavors – This would be delicious with grapefruit soda or ginger ale in place of the lemon-lime soda. This punch is also delicious (and slightly less sweet) if made with unsweetened sparkling water instead of soda.
  • Stick With Orange Sherbet – While raspberry sherbet or rainbow sherbet would be delicious with orange juice, the color of those other flavors will cause the punch to turn a strange green or brown color.
  • Stir Gently – We’re making orange sherbet punch with Sprite so we want to keep the bubbles! Use a long-handled spoon to gently stir the punch, or just swirl the juice and pop together lightly.
  • Enjoy it Right Away – After the punch has been mixed, it will start to lose its effervescence, so it’s best to serve and enjoy this recipe just after making it. I don’t suggest making sherbet punch ahead of time.
  • Spike the Punch – Make this punch boozy by adding ½ cup (or 1 shot for a single serving) of triple sec, Cointreau, vodka, or tequila. Here’s a boozy punch recipe to try next.

Can I Make Punch Without Sherbet?

Technically, yes, you can make a punch with whatever ingredients you like, and you don’t need to include sherbet.

But here’s why you should: The reaction that happens between the bubbles in the punch and the dairy in the sherbet creates a delicious, airy, sweet foam on top of the punch. That’s the best part! It’s similar to what happens when you make a root beer float, and it’s so, so good.

Can I Make Sherbet Punch Ahead of Time?

You should make your punch just before it’s going to be enjoyed. The flavor and textures of the drink are just better when it’s freshly mixed. If you have more than 8 people coming over, you can make multiple pitchers of punch, just make them one at a time.
